Transport Ministry to adopt payment terminals on the East-West Highway soon

Payment on the exploitation of the East-West highway is still under study, and neither the pricing that will be adopted is yet determined nor the model, as currently the completion of the facilities is not yet completed, and consultation with the concerned sectors and branches such as the police, Gendarmerie, Transport Ministry, Civil Protection, before the setting off in the training of users who will be employed for the conduct of payment terminals, Public Works Minister, Abdelkader Wali told Echorouk on Monday.

“A meeting with all contractors was recently organized to determine the workshops that will be open for the start of the completion centers, especially since the methods that were adopted in Algeria are not used in other countries and can be a model, since our roads work with twice in three trends, along 1,200 kilometers.

The minister announced on a government decision regarding the integration of the National Agency for the Completion of Highways “AGA”, the National Agency for the conduct of highways “ANA”, and standardization of activities and the launch of the Algerian company of highways on the unified body, during the last Council of Government, as the latter will take over the accomplishment of all the facilities that belong to the highway, including the payment centers.

“Transport Ministry is considering a number of tests that are adopted in the countries of the world to choose the formula that suits the peculiarities of the highway in Algeria, and how to conduct it, as to do the selection that is based on the experts’ proposals. It’s not easy, because there are a lot of accompanying bodies and the procedures that will be taken. Adoption of the payment centers requires in contrast high level services.”

“Concerning the East-West Highway, and workshops of restoration, the services of the ministerial department is currently working on ending the open workshops, as the achievement will be assessed by the end of this month, and the end of October was determined to end the workshops of the west at the level of Relizane, and November to end the workshop of Lakhdaria, as the progress of works in Djebel El Ouahche in Constantine will be assessed at the end of this month. It is necessary to get out of the logic of time to the logic of quality in the achievement.”
