Tuareg Dignitaries Leader Appeals To Bouteflika To Open Border With Libya For Humanitarian Cases

Head of the Tuareg Dignitaries for the Tassili Wazjer and Senator, Ibrahim Ghouma, sent a letter to the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, in order to intervene to open the border between Algeria and Libya in the state of Ellizi (Southern Algeria), where the city has two gates in Tinkoum (Djanet) and in el-Debdab, for humanitarian and social cases.

The letter, which copy is available to Echorouk, read: “We call upon the Mujahid (war veteran), His Excellency the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, may Allah prolong his life and his health and well-being, in order to take the necessary measures that are appropriate and supervised by the Algerian state, for the neighboring country, and to our brother peoples, which has extended a helping hand and embraced the Algerian revolution”.

“We pay tribute to all the elements of the army and all the security services that safeguard the country’s security and stability. We also record our observations as inhabitants of the region, especially the large Sahara and the Imohag tribes.”

“Events that happen next to our borders is only a beginning that has no end to the destabilization of the region, and the damage to the national security of our state, could ignite a war in the region and create insecurity and instability in our great southern border”.

“This is a conspiracy against the stability of our country and the peaceful relations between the different tribes of the large Sahara. We applaud the positions of the Algerian state on these complex issues and call for more action on the situation in Libya and in the Azawad area, because the situation directly affects our societies in the large Southern cities and the region in general”.

Tuareg Dignitaries Leader concluded his letter by calling upon Libyans and Azawads (Northern Mali) to exercise restraint and arbitrate the mind”.

The letter also called on “Liberals in the region to exercise restraint and work for anything that would bring peace and peaceful coexistence between the various components of society in the Greater Sahara and beloved Algeria”.

It is known that the border between Algeria and Libya was closed after the events that took place in this country, where the Algerian authorities have allowed only patients to treatment at the level of the border gate, while there was a transfer of cases that are requiring specialized medical follow-up to the hospital of Djanet (Southern Algeria), but these procedures are no longer sufficient, given the limited availability of the process, and because the demands of the opening of the border, also carries a social nature, against the background of social relations and kinship and marriage, which binds many families on the two sides of the border, which did not allow the current procedures to pass, and this divided families which have relatives in Algeria and in Libya, and many other complications that are associated with this situation.
