Tunisian authorities seized all the legal procedures and identified a list of “illegal immigrants” who are detained in Bizerte, an official source from the Tunisian consulate services in Annaba (eastern Algeria), said.

Tunisian authorities will release, on Tuesday, the Algerian illegal immigrants, and then handed them over to their families in Annaba.

Same sources added that there are approximately 21 youth who came from different neighborhoods of Annaba, and who were arrested by the border coast guards in Bizert, adding that they were not carrying any identity documents, which made it difficult for the Tunisian authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures before releasing them, after they were rescued from death by a rescue vessel that belongs to the Tunisian Navy.

“Release of Algerians illegal immigrants’ took place in coordination between the Algerian authorities and the Tunisian counterpart, as the Tunisian consulate in Annaba collected all the documents (identification cards), and then determining their nominal lists and converting them with a detailed report of the Tunisian authorities. After the completion of all their administrative and legal procedures, December 1st was identified as a date for releasing the illegal immigrants who are detained in Bizerte, and then handing them over to their families, at the Tunisian consulate in Annaba, as they expressed their great satisfaction of the good treatment which they received by the Tunisian authorities, which spared no effort to save their lives, while they were struggling with death at sea.
