Volkswagen's First Algeria-Produced Cars To Be Marketed In August

First Volkswagen cars that are produced in Ghelizane, western Algeria, will be marketed in August, General Manager of Sovak, Mourad Almi, announced on Tuesday.

In an interview with the third radio station, Mr. Mourad Almi denied the information that is circulating on the sale of all the cars now after stopping the reception of the purchase orders, asserting that only the cars that are under installation were sold for delivery in early August.

“A clear policy should be developed by the state in the medium and long term, in order to move from the installation stage to the establishment of an integrated automotive industry in Algeria within ten years”.

“German brand aims through the Ghelizane plant to make Algeria a future gateway for exporting cars to Africa, and exporting spare parts as well”.

“Our first goal is to be ranked first in the Maghreb in the export of spare parts. It is unreasonable that Tunisia exports $ 5 billion and Morocco exports over $ 7 billion, while Algeria does not register its presence, although it is highly dynamic in the car industry”.
