Wide calls for adoption of English as first foreign language in Algerian education system

Wide calls for adoption of English as first foreign language in Algerian education system

This is the urgent appeal made by certain well-meaning voices that were raised against beleaguered Minister of national Education, Nouria Benghebrit, after her recent controversial decision to introduce dialectal Arabic (vernacular) in the primary cycle of education in Algeria in the upcoming school year.

These well thinking souls are increasing the leverage to denounce the minister’s untoward decision which they describe as the very negation of literary Arabic and the fundamental values of the Algerian nation.

They are demanding that English be  taught as the first foreign language starting from the primary school cycle instead of  French, arguing that English is the primary language of knowledge and technology, studied and adopted all around the world.

The French language is used by only 2% of the world population.

France comes in 12thposition by the number of books published,

according to Unesco statistics.

The internet in French is used by only 3% of Internet users worldwide.

The proponents of the English language also stated that the Algerians must open themselves to other living languages other than  French to take advantage of high

achievements of modernity and new knowledge for humankind.

This normal that people ask of English as the 1st foreigner language. That it not normal to keep teaching French as 1st Foreigner language. In European country when someone talk in French they say to him: "you look like a women or gay" It is shame we don't need to deal with this this language any more.
The coming generation of Algerian people should learn English to open their eyes on the civilization of the whole world.
So they will affect and will be affected and this is a condition to the development
