The combined forces of the National Gendarmerie and National Police have taken a set of stringent measures to ensure security of citizens and road safety across the 48 provinces of Algeria ahead of the celebration of the Aid El Fitr festival marking the end of the holy month of fasting of Ramadhan due on Saturday or Sunday.
- These extra security measures provide for the reinforcement of the operational gendarmerie and police brigades with the aim of ensuring quietude and public order across the national territory.
- Intervention units coupled with those in charge of supervising road traffic in and around the big urban centers will also be on duty around the clock.
- The combined forces will also be heavily deployed in the vicinity of public squares, restaurants, hotels, cemeteries, mosques and public buildings as part of this beefed-up security apparatus ahead of the Aid El Fitr celebrations.
- According to the National Gendarmerie Command, over 90.000 gendarmes and policemen including plainclothes ones will be deployed in the next few days in the framework of this heightened security plan in the four corners of the country.
