Algerian president asks Zidane to coach the Algerian national squad
Zinne Eddine Zidane
The Algerian president Abdelaziz Boueflika has proposed to the football star Zinnedine Zidane the idea of coaching the Algerian national squad right after the world Cup competition that will take place in south Africa, reliable sources revealed.
- The president has made the offer during the private dinner at the presidency’s palace, which brought together Zidane’ father and the president’s brothers. M Bouteflika has clearly expressed his will to see Zidane on top of the Algeria squad in replacement to Rabah Saadane, the same sources revealed.
- For his part, Zidane has asked from the president a period of time to think the proposal over and give his response, knowing that close ties link between the two men.
- It should be noted that this is the second time that the president Abdelaziz Bouteflika makes an offer to the football legend Zineddine Zidane to take over the destiny of the Algeria squad, after that one made during Zidane’s first visit to Algeria in 2006.
- The Former French Captain’s response is expected to be positive on account of the good relationship that links him to the Algerian president and his interest for the Algerian football.
- The contract of the present coach Rabah Saadane will come to an end next July, soon after the World cup competition, giving thus the opportunity to the Algerian football federation to start discussions either with Zidane or another coach.
- Zidane has declared to Echourok that he dreams of coaching the Greens.
- In a previous interview with Echourok released on Wednesday, March 3, Zineddine Zidane has revealed that he dreams of coaching the Algeria squad one day” Coaching the Algerian national squad remains a dream to be fulfilled, but I’m not in a hurry, maybe after five or ten years”, he said.
- He has also revealed that he knew most of the players especially Nadir Belhadj whom he considers fit for playing to his former club real Madrid.
- The presence of Henri Emile could weight on the balance
- If in the past he has ruled out the possibility of coaching the Greens because of his numerous commitments, things have changed this time around especially that news hinted at the probability of appointing his friend Henri Emile as a manager at the Algerian Football Federation.
- One of the first tasks that will be assigned to the man is to convince Zinedine Zidane to take over the Algeria squad.
