11 dead, 26 injured in traffic accident Southern Algeria

Over 11 citizens perished and 26 wounded in a traffic accident, in Ain Saleh (in Tamenrasset Southern Algeria), early in the down , following the collision of a passengers with a truck trailer, in the kilo metric point 80, on the National Road No. 1.
The collision was very violent, as testimonies stated that the number of wounded, is due the excessive speed of both the bus and truck drivers, as the latter when he reached a turning point he lost control of his vehicle, and collided with the front of the bus, which is working on Bejaia-Tamanrasset line, killing 10 people in this place, including the truck driver and his assistant, and eight of the bus passengers, including two women.
A passenger died later in Ain Salah Hospital, after suffering from eloquent injuries. Then 26 people were also wounded, and eight of them were transferred to Ghardaia and Tamanrasset Hospitals (Southern Algeria), given the seriousness of their injuries.
Noting that Ain Salah Hospital lacks specialist doctors in general surgery, anesthesia and resuscitation.
Five of the injured left their homes, and the rest of them suffer simple injuries, and are lying in Ain Saleh Hospital.
According to the testimonies of a number of wounded, which Echorouk interviewed in Ain Saleh hospital, the incident occurred in a flash, and many of the passengers did not realize what happened, because it happened early in the morning, and many of them were asleep.
Injured Ahmad, said the accident occurred quickly in less than a blink of an eye, and adds: “Fatigue was perceptible to the bus driver, because of the long distance from Bejaia to Tamanrasset, which is 3000 km, and because the bus does not stop in Ghardaia station only for ten minutes”, which means that the driver did not get enough rest.
Ms. Fatima emphasizes that since she took the bus in Ghardaia station, she noticed the excessive speed of the bus driver, adding that passengers heard a strong voice because of the collision, then yelling rose and remains of the bodies littered in the sky on far distances.”
On the other hand, the people of Ain Salah rushed to the hospital, in order to donate blood for the injured, and provide assistance to them, noting that the injured are mostly from Bejaia and Bordj Bou Arreridj.
