5,000 gendarmes, 300 cameras to secure the capital of Arab culture in Constantine

Services of the national gendarmerie in Constantine (eastern Algeria), deployed on the occasion of Constantine Capital of Arab Culture, the Electronic Protection Systems, for conducting public security in the Wilaya, and the protection of foreign delegations, which they can control all the halls and roads, to prevent any disorder that may disrupts the event.
In the framework of the embodiment of a special scheme to provide a demonstration of Constantine Capital of Arab Culture 2015, the Regional Leadership of the National Gendarmerie, conducted since the beginning of January, the procedures and advanced preparations for the event, which included the development of security plans that include all the measures that should be taken in such evens, so as to ensure the good conduct of the event’s activities.
Among these actions, over 300 electronic cameras were placed to protect the streets of the city, the facilities and halls, which host the event, such as the Zenith Hall and Malek Haddad center.
Echorouk paid a tour in the operations’ room, that is located in the regional group of the National Gendarmerie in Constantine (eastern Algeria), where Colonel Boumerdjane Bouziane said: “The electronic protection systems were introduced to service a week ago, since the beginning of the event, which are systems that are supplied by the National Gendarmerie Services in the Wilaya, for the first time in order to secure the city, the delegations and visitors.”
Colonel Boumerdjane added that these cameras allow to give the information and picture, at the right time, in order to intervene as soon as possible, by contacting patrols that are close to the places of any defect that could hamper good conduct of the demonstration, including the intervention in case of traffic congestion, to facilitate traffic, and deploying two helicopters for air surveillance.
“Human support which is estimated to 5,000 gendarmes, who are working 24/24 hours, was distributed to all areas 48h before the event’s start.”
“Over 5,000 gendarmes there, and other teams from the Wilaya, and even from neighboring cities, are ready to intervene in a time of need, in addition to the use of female gendarmes to deal with women”.
For his part, the chief of staff at the Fifth Regional Leadership in Constantine (eastern Algeria), Colonel Baibane Karim said, in a press conference to secure the demonstration, said that the regional leadership ensures the success of a security in the demonstration, by deploying all the human and material resources, and explained the points of liquidating and insuring the level of entrances and exits of the city.
