Judge Tayeb Hilali Wednesday continued hearing suspects involved in the motorway issue. Kheladi accused Cojal of stealing the Algerian public treasury’s money and manipulating projects.

Suspect Tadjeddine Adou was asked about his records. He said he has an enterprise but has no records except the current case. “Thanks God, I am a businessman. My late father left money to us to build our life. I have a fishery enterprise created in 2004.”

Asked about his relationship with Kheladi, he said he met him in a coffee shop in Algiers. “In 2007, he called me and asked me about the Canadian company after the motorway project had faced many hindrances and problems with Chinese.”

He added that Kheladi asked him to be a mediator with the Canadian company to save the motorway frozen project.

The story of Lisoune Ben Arroudj, a Moroccan Jew

Tadjeddine told the judge about a deal between the Canadian company and another company in charge of the project.

He said he called the Canadian company’s vice CEO Lisoune Ben Arroudj who was a Moroccan Jew. She contacted the Chinese party and signed the contract between the two companies.

He added that he did not receive any counterpart and was prosecuted because of the contract following allegations that it was fake. Yet, he was acquitted.

Asked about Canada’s SNC Lavalin company, the suspect said he offered the project to the public works minister at that time but he rejected it.

My nefew was involved in the issue

Attorney General asked the suspect about money transferred from his account to a man named Bousaid. Tadjeddine said it was a debt about two watches he had bought at 6,000 Euros in Paris.

He added that his nephew was involved in the issue.
