Algeria mobilizes investigators to divulge mayors’ wrongdoing
Algerian interior minister Tayeb Belaiz gave an instruction to assign a delegation to open investigations in a number of municipalities. This comes following reports on problems experienced by residents in their municipality, Echorouk has learnt.
The delegation will start treating the reports as the ministry received complaints from people and local associations.
The complaints show that a large number of mayors are involved in public money squandering and cheating laws.
The delegation will simplify administrative procedures, treat development issues in municipalities and solve raised problems.
All it seems that recent violent acts in Tougourt in the province of Ouargula (south of Algiers) showed that some local government representatives “failed” to have control over the situation.
Municipality departments could not solve the problem of lands distribution on residents.
