The President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, appointed Thursday a new batch of ambassadors, consul generals and consuls as part of this year’s diplomatic reshuffle.

This reshuffle was part of the smooth running of major State administrations and the management of their senior officials.

Sources close to the Presidency told Echorouk that the reshuffle in the Algerian diplomatic corps posted overseas is aimed at injecting new impetus into the Algerian diplomatic action abroad to make it more and more efficient.

The new nominations include 6 women as Ambassadors or consuls. The same sources told Echorouk that the former minister delegate in charge of Maghrebian and African affairs, Abdelmadjid Bouguerra, has been appointed new Algerian Ambassador in the United States in replacement of Abdallah Baâli while foreign affairs ministry senior executive Mohamed Bourouba has been nominated Algeria’s Ambassador to Amman (Jordan).

For his part, Mr Kadri has been named Algerian Consul in Manama (Bahrein) while Mr Ali Talouar has been appointed Consul General in Casablanca (Morocco) in line with a proposal made to this effect by Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra.

Furthermore, the head of the African affairs department at the foreign affairs Ministry, Karem Hassan, has been named new Algerian Ambassador in the Swedish capital Stockholm.

Among the 6 women nominated, Mrs Boukadoum has been appointed General Consul in New York (USA) while the former Algerian Consul General in Djeddah (Saudi Arabia) has been designated as Algeria’s Ambassador in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). The latter was replaced in his former post by the Consul of Lyon (France).
