Algeria to apply pay raise plan
The Algerian government scheduled the implementation of the ban on Article 87 bis of labor law in a cabinet meeting due to be held on Wednesday. It is expected to come up with pay raise which would be applied starting from May, Echorouk has learnt.
A draft executive decree shows that the national minimal wage is defined as the basic salary along with bonus and indemnity. Yet, seven bonuses will be excluded.
Article 2 stipulates that indemnity related to professional experience, work organization and living place conditions.
Profitability and encouragements are not taken in consideration as well.
Union leaders say that more than 1 million workers will get pay raise of 50-60 percent.
According to sources at the Algerian finance ministry, the government would have given the go-ahead to open a new workshop on categories of people concerned by the pay raised.
