Algeria: Winter holidays’ remedial courses to salvage 2015 Baccalaureate exam
The national education ministerial department has enjoined the provincial education directorates to open schools across the national territory starting from next Sunday during the first week of the upcoming winter holidays with the aim of allowing secondary school pupils benefit from remedial courses.
Such an injunction will be expounded on Wednesday by the national education minister Nouria Benghebrit herself during a broad-based meeting with education managers in Algiers.
Ministry sources told “Echorouk” that these projected remedial courses were dictated by the protracted teachers’ strikes which lately brought numerous schools across the country to a virtual standstill.
These remedial courses to be provided to many pupils are “mandatory and not optional”, the same sources added.
The move will allow pupils to catch up on lost lessons on account of the repeated teachers’ work stoppages earlier this year.
The national education ministry’s endeavour is mainly aimed at straightening out the untoward situation besetting many schools in various parts of the country in the hope of salvaging the end-of-year exams awaiting the pupils of the primary, intermediate and secondary school cycles.
