Algerian authorities gather Nigerian refugees in southern cities

Gendarmerie local department in Ouergla, took all measures to secure the transfer of African nationals of Nigerian nationality towards their country of origin, sources from the National Gendarmerie reported on Monday.
Same sources indicated that the units of the National Gendarmerie undertook the task of gathering groups of African Nigerians in centers that were prepared in accordance with the required conditions across the entire southern Wilayas, and highlighted that the Gendarmerie units will secure conditions, throughout December, gathering Africans who are scattered in various areas of the south.
“National Gendarmerie found some difficulties in determining the places where a large number of Nigerian nationals are living, especially since some of them have decided not to disappear from the public squares and public spaces, that are located on the territory of the national gendarmerie units.”
“Nigerians refuse to comply with the procedures and measures that were taken by the government to deal with the Nigerian refugees’ file, in preparation to take them towards their country of origin. Over 3000 Nigerian refugees are living on the national territory, and most of them are children and women, because 76% of the total Nigerian refugees in Algeria are children, and 24% are of both sexes.
