Amar Saadani: “Revision of the Constitution slated for next April 2015 at the latest”
The revision of the Constitution will be wrapped up “at the latest by next April”, said Sunday, January 4, the Secretary General of FLN party Amar Saadani.
‘The revamping process of the Constitution will be completed no later than next April 2015, Amar Saadani told journalists outside the 12th UGTA Congress in Algiers.
Saadani said that the FLN Party Congress,
initially scheduled before the end of the month of March 2015, will take place after the projected revision of the country’s Constitution.
On 30 December, during a Council of Ministers meeting, President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika dwelt in a keynote speech on the scope and objective of the ongoing revision of the Constitution, stressing that this amended fundamental law doesn’t serve “a power establishment or a regime”.
“It is aimed at further protecting individual and collective liberties, deeply anchoring democracy and bolstering the rule of law in Algeria”, the head of state affirmed.
The marathon consultations initiated by the Presidency of the Republic on this constitutional revision were spearheaded by Mr Ahmed Ouyahia and involved numerous political party leaders, national personalities, scholars and academics in addition to representatives of civil society.
