Armed forces foil the smuggling of war weapons and explosives Southern Algeria

Detachment of the National People’s Army that belong to the operational sector of Ain Guezzam in the sixth military region (southern Algeria), foiled ,on Tuesday morning, an attempt to introduce significant amount of various types of military weapons, ammunition and explosives.

According to a statement of the National Defense Ministry, which copy was received by Echorouk, the military operation, came after a control patrol by members of the National People’s Army, near the borderline in Tiririne, which resulted in the discovery of a hideout that contains six machine guns of the type “Kalashnikov”, 3 machine guns of the type ” FMPK” and two “RPG 7 ” rockets, “SPG 9” and two hawns caliber 60 mm, six machine guns caliber 14.5 and 12.7 mm, two anti groups explosives, sixty offensive and defensive bombs, 225 kilograms of explosive materials and 45 rockets of various calibers, and 1761 bullets of various weapons.
This quality operation comes under countering the threats that are facing by the country, border protection, the fight against terrorism, and the fight against smuggling and organized crime, as this operation is a painful blow against the cells of arms trade and smuggling, that are active on the Algerian, Malian and Libyan borders, especially as it enabled the retrieval of a considerable number of weapons and explosives.
This operation confirms the warnings that are contained in a previous security report, which confirmed the spread of about 28 million pieces of weapons in Libya, and the enrollment of African mercenaries and extremist fighters who are brought by extremist organizations there.
Security expert and Head of the Algerian-African Peace Committee, Ahmed Mizab, had already confirmed that the report counted the number of weapons that are deployed in Libya, and that are currently between 22 to 28 million, with an increase of 20 million pieces of weapons compared to the era of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, since three years ago. 
“The report showed that armed groups and terrorist groups have 35 missiles of the type “lobster”, 120 anti-aircraft missiles, and 329 “G5 M” rockets, 54 transient land rockets for cities, 24 M9 rockets, 262 devastating heads of lobster missile, 3 warheads missiles, 144 platform for anti-aircraft missiles and a launch missiles, 7 devices to set goals, Hawn mortars, 3 guns with half inch caliber, three hawn mortar shells with the caliber 32 mm, 127 explosive propellant for RPG rocket , 232 bars for multiple shots, 33 Belgian FM guns, 327 automatic rifles, 432 stores for automatic rifles, two million bullets of 9 mm”, and 72 weapon stores, which are the same types of weapons, that were seized by the National People’s Army troops in this operation, and the weapons that are smuggled by rival groups in northern Mali.”
Previously, the Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, Major General, Ahmad Guaid Saleh, said that he paid a working visit to the operational sectors of the sixth military region in Tamanrasset (southern Algeria), in order to stand on the operational readiness of the army units that are stationed on the southern borders of the country, as he checked out the defense systems and the deployment of forces in military region, and he held many direct meetings with the officials and users of the units in charge of ensuring the protection and securing national borders in all operational sectors of Bordj Badji Mokhtar and Ain Guezzam.
