Member of Parliament for Europe, except France and the Americas, Mr Belmedah has said that the biometric passport problem for Algerian nationals now residing in Ireland, has found its way to a solution, in the wake of the trip made by biometric service staff members at the Consulate of Algeria in London to this country, with the aim of processing all the pending files and collecting all the necessary official documents, including fingerprints, photographs and so on and so forth.

Mr Belmedah said in a statement to “Echorouk” that  the problem faced previously by Algerians living in Ireland and lacking an official nationality, needed a prior visa to England to submit their Passport files at the Algerian Consulate in London, where in many cases the latter rejected their visa applications and  a lot of them remained thereby without a passport.

He added that the Consul of Algeria in London had personally assured him that biometric service staff members travelled a few days ago to Ireland where they started collecting documents and photos, fingerprints, etc…, thus sparing the Algerian nationals now residing in Ireland to move themselves to the Consulate of Algeria in London for this purpose.

According to Mr Belmedah, the Consul of Algeria in Athens spoke to him, for his part, of the possibility of granting passports to Algerians “Haragas” currently settled illegally in Greece, but not before the completion of the delivery of biometric passports to those Algerians residing on Greek soil on a legal basis, in close coordination with the Algerian Ministry of the Interior and foreign affairs.
