Biometric Driving Licenses Are Under Testing
A decline in the indicators of traffic security was registered at the national level during the first 11 months of 2017, General Manager of the National Center for Prevention and Security on Roads, Ahmed Nait Al-Hussein, revealed on Sunday.
During his hosting at the “Morning Guest” program for the first radio station, Nait Al Hussein added that compared to the same period in 2015, there was a decrease of 28.52% in the number of physical accidents and 34% in the number of wounded and dead, while more than 1,200 people were saved from real death through various national roads
“By the end of this year, we will be counting 3,500 dead, which explains the development of traffic safety by recording a decrease in the death toll of 4,500 people a year”, asserting that additional efforts should be made to achieve better results.
“The new traffic law measures would come into full effect during 2018, including the introduction of a drip driving license. This system required a year of technical and information preparation along with the clearance of the national license for driving licenses”.
“The bio-metric driving license is currently in the technical testing stage. This procedure, which is one of the latest technologies in the international field. Traffic safety is the responsibility of everyone”.
General Manager of the National Center for Prevention and Security asserted that the driver is the only responsible more than any other through the exercise of urban behavior while driving the vehicle and away from the negative behaviors that may cost his life and the lives of others, pointing to the occurrence of 5126 physical accidents in 2017 due to excessive speed and 3177 traffic accidents due to the lack of concentration during driving.
He also highlighted the role that is played by the National Center for Road Safety and Security, which sent teams to the states that have the highest number of traffic accidents, such as the state of Mesila, to carry out awareness campaigns with the security services, and that are organized by the Center on driving during air disturbances, and it is currently working on the monitoring and counting of all the black points, which recorded frequent incidents to be submitted to the Interior Ministry.
With regard to the deterrent side, the spokesman highlighted that this is linked to the automated measures that monitor the violations by continuous monitoring of the sections of roads that record fatal accidents through the installation of radars.
