Defense Ministry: “Algeria is ready to deal diligently with any crisis on its borders”

A representative of the National Defense Ministry, Colonel Mohamed Salah Arsak, said Thursday on the sidelines of an international Forum on national defense policies hosted by the University of Ouargla in Southern Algeria that Algeria enjoys good relations at the international level and its military potential allows her to deal efficiently and diligently with any crisis which may erupt on its borders.

Taking the floor during the proceedings of the Forum, Colonel Arsak, affirmed that national defense is a policy dealing with international security and decision- making adding that the latter comprises important measures regarding decision-making and strategic goals along with certain conditions that can be delegated to the national armed forces to intervene, especially in times of risk and turmoil.

He also outlined a series of laws and regulations relating to national defense like the Tripoli Charter and the Soummam Congress which bring out the imperious necessity for the National Popular Army to duly protect and safeguard the national borders.

The senior ANP officer further highlighted the Algerian state’s firm principle of striving to resolve internal issues and its abidance by the all-time criterion of non-interference in other states’ domestic affairs as part of its overall steadfast policy-line.
