Education: 12 additional guards in each exam center to thwart cheating in the baccalaureate

Informed sources told Echorouk, that the Minister of Education, Nouria Ben Ghabrit, decided to lift the number of additional teachers guards in the baccalaureate exam, from 5 professors only in previous years to 12 professors, with an increase of 7 professors, adding in the same context , that the ministry has ordered the departments of Education in Wilayas to the need to deploy all the professors and teachers at the national level in the three educational stages, without exception, in order to ensure effective coverage of the exam since its inception and until its conclusion.

They confirmed that the minister has taken the decision to double the number of guards to intensify the fight against the phenomenon of guards absences in the midst of the exams, which noticed an increase in the past few years, due to the absence of guards for trivial reasons.

According to the same sources, the ministry wrote to the National Office for Exams and Competitions, so that it assigned it the task of combating the phenomenon of absences of the guards professors, to the managers of centers and their deputies, through forcing the 50 education directorates to hold boards of discipline immediately after recording absences of exams’ supervisors, in order to show that the work in the exam is a duty and they should not manipulate the credibility of the baccalaureate, while the ministry said the departments of Health and Social Security are responsible for the fake medical certificates that are usually given to professors to encourage their absence from guarding during the conduct of official exams.

In the same context, the same sources added that for the first time the Education Ministry used assistants and professional workers, so that they will work in the official school exams, and then will be included in the technical card of exams, especially as they have taken the decision to dispense with the observers category, so that it reduced their number from 13 to 2 observers, arguing that they impede the performance of the work of the heads of centers and are working to bring about chaos. 

“Delivery of technical cards for official school exams had been delayed compared to the previous year, due to preoccupation of the National Education Ministry with the strikes of syndicates that lasted for weeks, and then was busy after the process of pedagogical redressing and compensation, which led to the postponement of issuing instructions and leaflets, on the grounds that in the past year and in the same period, the DOE have put the finishing touches to the Exams Centers for assembly and correction.”
