Education: Syndicates' Bloc freezes the three-day strike

Educational syndicates decided to suspend its strike which was expected to be organized starting from tomorrow for three days that are renewed every week, after the National Education responded to the raised demands positively, and responded to 11 out of 12 demands.

Conversely the Independent Syndicate of Education and Training “SATEF” confirmed that Saturday’s meetings are a beginning of a retreat of the ministry from its “intransigence”, in order to save the school year.

“Previous decisions that were issued in the form of “a media statements” have been totally postponed, as the ministry decides again to re-open the law on the sector’s users 12/240 that amended and completed the law 315/08, without condition or restriction, and therefore the ministry waived the Charter of Ethics and abolished it completely, a charter that caused a real crisis within the sector and increased tensions between the ministry and the social partners, because it states in one of its provisions to prevent syndicates from engaging in strikes in the future, in contrast it sent an invitation to all the syndicates to sit down with them on one table and start formulating a “new charter of ethics. At a time when the Secretary General of the Syndicate thinks that the agreement that was stated by the ministry in previous meetings is imaginary and does not exist in the field.”
