France Won’t Apologize For Its crimes in Algeria … Don’t Expect Much From Pt Macron’s Visit

The film “We Return from afar from Correa 2 Process” by French movie director Pierre Carl is a neutral reading of the salutary economic and social changes that Ecuador had witnessed after President Rafael Correa came to power.

Apart from the conventional perception of the Western media generally, the French movie director and investigator speaks of the adventure that led him to Ecuador, where he tried to find out the reasons behind President Rafael Correa’s return to power after refusing to pay part of his country’s public debt demanded by the International Monetary Fund, considering the move worthy of the President who has been able to reduce the unemployment rate, to curb social disparities and the foster the growth of the country’s middle class.

“The Correa operation has been financed by independent initiatives stemming mainly from Internet pioneers who have suggested to the team to go to Ecuador and learn about the successful experience of this country instead of merely castigating the French media outlets for their silence on the issue,” said the French filmmaker.

During his visit of late to France, the Ecuadoran President outlined his broad economic options during a lecture at the Sorbonne University and criticized by the same token the European Union’s neo-liberal economic options.

Mr. Pierre Carl said that his film was rejected by French television channels which did not show it, as the latter had already refused to show his film about Pierre Bourdieu because the French media argued the movie director did not discuss what is outside the prevailing options, which usually take place within the framework of neo-Western liberalism while there are voices and different experiences that are not necessarily communist but they presented perceptions against capitalism,

For this reason, director Pierre Carl does not seem very optimistic about the results of the French President’s upcoming official visit to Algeria.

Mr. Pierre Carl ruled out that Macron’s visit to Algeria would carry any new message notably in the vexed memory file because, he stressed, France is not yet ready to officially recognize the appalling crimes committed by the French colonial army in Algeria during the war.
