Guinea has decided to recall its ambassador in Algiers. According to a statement from the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this recall comes within the framework of “an ordinary movement”.

However, according to some insider sources, this recall is due to “lapses” of the Guinean ambassador Ousmane Diao Baldé on issues related to the foreign policy of his own country. As a recall, the latter was appointed Ambassador to Algiers in February 2013.

“Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel received on Wednesday a phone call from Foreign Minister Mamadou Toure, who informed him of the recall decision, as part of the ordinary movement concerning the Ambassador of Guinea in Algiers and the appointment in the coming days of a new Ambassador,” said the Foreign Ministry in a statement.

Guinea gave however no explanations for this recall.

According to the same source, the head of Guinean diplomacy has “hailed” the quality of relations between Algeria and his country and “the increased growth that these relations are expected to achieve thanks to the will of the two sides to lift them to levels of excellence”.
