Algerian satellite AlcomSat 1 will contribute to cover the areas where there is no mobile coverage, especially in the southern states, Minister of Post, Telecommunications, Technologies and Digitization, Iman Houda Feraoun, said during her visit to Ilizi province (southern Algeria)) on Tuesday.

“The Algerian-made satellite was recently launched from China, which is the first of its kind in communications, the Internet and other purposes. It will help eliminate the shadow areas, ie, areas where there is no mobile coverage, along the national route No. 3 And the various national roads, so that the AlcomSAT 1 satellite will reduce the prohibitive costs of installing network antennas along the national road, especially with the vast distances that are defined by the provinces of the South.

As for the SOS number in the absence of coverage, the Minister revealed that for any connection there must be a fiber-optic network or satellite communication, which is very expensive, so that the Algerian satellite after entering into service during the first six months of the year, will provide services with affordable prices, and keep the customers install antennas and equipment, while the energy problem exists, which requires a move towards solar energy in order to supply these power plants.

During the visit, Algerie Telecom also announced the launch of a new service for customers, which is the service of “emergency call” for the benefit of customers for additional 36 hours of internet, after the expiration of the period, especially on holidays or at night, to ensure continuity without interruption, where it is enough to call the number 1500, and get the customer’s number, while deducting the period after the recharge again.
