Housing: Annual deficit reaches 170,000 units

Housing Director of Public Promotional Housing AADL at the ministry “retired” and “did not resign”, and work is continuing at the level of the Directorate naturally and this is the most important for the sector, Housing Minister, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, said, on Tuesday, at the conclusion of his two-day visit to Batna (Eastern Algeria), where he laid the foundation stone for the completion of 6,310 housing units of various furomulas in Arris (Batna).

“Algeria recorded an annual deficit of 170,000 housing units per year, as the various institutions only accomplish 80,000 apartments, out an annual demand that is estimated to 250.000 units, which requires the redoubling of efforts to build modern residential construction that would improve industry. Algeria would get rid of the foreign labor in the range of 2018.”
During the inauguration of the private company “Techno Ceram” that operates in the porcelain tile industry, hired 150 workers, including 17 engineers from the University of Batna, the minister admitted the quality of the product and its reasonable price.
“I would make a decision that will urge the Algerian institutions to deal with the domestic production through the acquisition of local building materials, instead of resorting to import to adapt to the economic situation, after the decline of oil prices. Private contractors activity in the construction and building materials largely contributed in making the Wilaya of Batna among the leading in the completion of residential programs that assigned to it in the proper time and away from the problems in the sector in other regions, except with reservation on 1,650 AADL housing projects 3, which called to remedy the delay in completion.”
Housing Minister called upon some institutions, that are concerned with the projects that are assigned to it, under the decisions of the Council of Ministers, after the tripartite meeting, to draw closer to receiving the projects that are given to them after 113 institutions were selected under mutual consent, and without resorting to tender for the implementation of projects, depending on the noticeable experience and that is secured in the jurisdiction.
