Housing: Government prevents construction materials' import, Minister Tebboune says

Importing the locally produced materials that are used in the completion of various housing projects, and those related to construction are officially banned in Algeria, Housing and Construction Minister, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, said.

“Door is open to local investors who are wishing to market their products to show their desire to participate in transactions, as the door will be opened for them to show their products, and the best of these products will be chosen”.
Minister added on Friday, in a meeting with the officials in charge of Algiers Grand Mosque completion, in the wake of the visit that led him to workshops to check out the works.
“Decision of the Prime Minister, Abdelmalek Sellal, is sent to the various Ministerial sectors, and decides to prevent importing every existing product locally. This decision has nothing to do with the policy of austerity, but comes within the framework of the rationalization of expenditures, and creating an economic dynamic, and preserving the open posts, that are currently open by companies that are active locally, through enabling them to sell their products to ensure its continuation in the activity.”
