In Salah protesters submit requests to military zone commander

Representatives of protesters in In Salah (south of Algeria) called on the sixth military zone commander to ensure their safety in return of not rioting. They also asked for compensation as tents were set on fire and treatment of people wounded in clashes with security forces.

The protesters also submitted a request to enable seven representatives to enter shale gas exploration sites.

This comes as residents took to the street in In Salah to protest against shale gas exploitation.

The zone commander asked them to allow services departments to work. Calm was restored in the area and shops were open. Residents still gather in Somoud Square during the day.
