Italian Ambassador Promises To Double Visa Centers In Algeria

Italy is committed to strengthening friendly relationships, political and economic cooperation between the two countries, the new Italian ambassador to Algeria, Giovanni Pugliese, said.

“The friendship between Italy and Algeria has deep roots dating back to before the independence of Algeria and has always been strengthened by geographical proximity, cultural and human relationships between our two peoples, and trade exchanges”, the Italian ambassador added in a message to the Algerians on social media.

The Italian diplomat explained that Algeria is Italy’s first trading partner in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region thanks to exchanges exceeding $ 8 billion, and confirmed the need to strengthen this partnership, especially since nearly 200 Italian companies are present in Algeria, and he also committed to facilitating cooperation between small and medium enterprises, Italian and Algerian start-ups.

“The year 2021 will be more enriching for the Algerian-Italian friendship and will notice enormous and unprecedented dynamism”.

He also promised to strengthen human and cultural relations between the Italian and Algerian peoples by promoting the Italian language in Algeria, offering scholarships to Algerian students, and organizing cultural initiatives in coordination with the Italian Cultural Institute in Algeria and the Italian School of Rome in Algiers”.

“The Embassy of Italy is looking forward to promoting an effective visa policy. This year, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, we have created a special mechanism that allowed Algerian students not to miss the university year in Italy”.

“Italy is the only country that has visa centres in the far south of Algeria in Adrar. We will double these centres in Algeria”.
