Italy court collects evidences to summon Chakib Khelil

A court in Milan fixed December 1st to hear suspects involved in the Sonatrach-Eni-Saipem corruption scandals. Of them, Saipem’s former construction director Pietro Varone and former Saipem-Algerie’s director Tullio Orsi.

Lawyer Pistochini who defends Varone said the latter will be heared on December 1^st and Orsi on December 2^nd .

He told Echorouk Varone’s lawyers had not decided yet about summing Algeria’s former energy minister Chakib Khalil as a witness.

This comes as the Attorney General asked to start making the inventory of evidences at early stage before the hearings.

A large number of evidences are expected to be presented against Khalil following Varone’s previous confessions to examining judges.

Varone told judges Khelil met Eni’s CEO  Paolo Scaroni in Paris and Milan to achieve a gas field deal eastern Hassi Messaoud.
