Over 80 Arab, Foreign Channels Are Negotiating To Broadcast Via Algeria Alcom Sat 1

Algerian President, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, ordered Algerian institutions from the public and private sector to make optimal use of the activities, applications and services that are provided by the Algerian telecommunications satellite Alcom Sat 1.

According to Echorouk sources, the Algerian achievement is expected to broadcast 80 television channels according to negotiations that are initiated by Algeria Satellite services, including the channels that are largely viewed by Algerians, whether local, Arab or foreign, and is specialized in sports and news content and also respect the ethics of modesty.

In a letter that was read on his behalf by the General Secretary of the Republic, Habba al Akbi, President Bouteflika reiterated the state’s commitment to control modern technology and to make it the center of economic development and basic engine, during the celebration of the crew of the Algerian space agency after the creation of the Algerian satellite Alcom Sat 1, and the success of its installation in its orbit on last December 10.

“I call on state institutions, its bodies and private sector institutions to make optimal use of the satellite’s services and applications in their various fields of activity”, Bouteflika said.

“Development of the economy is today synonymous with the control of modern technologies”.

“Our researchers and experts in our universities, institutes, labs and workshops have to do their experiments and invent bridges between them and the productive institutions”.

“There is a gap between the world of innovation, the application of production, marketing and consumption, and then move our economy to export outside the field of hydrocarbons”.

For his part, Prime Minister, Ahmed Ouyahia, said that Algeria launched the satellite Alcom Sat-1, to start a new era for national development in light of the provision of a stronger, more efficient and secure national network for transmission and communication”.

“This step would enable the country to the availability of a more secure national transmission network, including the risks of natural disasters”.

“There is no doubt that everyone recognizes the importance of establishing an effective media and communication system”.

In this context, the General Manager of Algiers Satellite Communications, Mohamed Anouar Ben Abdelouahid, revealed to Echorouk that negotiations are launched with 80 major channels for broadcasting on the Algerian satellite, including Arab and foreign news and sports channels, with several factors such as modesty and respect of Algerian family conditions that are taken into consideration, and the choice of the most watched channels.

As for the price, the spokesman confirmed that it has not been decided until now, and confirmed in return that officials at NileSat and Astra, are competing satellites that search for data about the Algerian satellite.

Algerian Space Agency (ASA) handed over a prototype of the satellite Alcom Sat 1 to the President in recognition of his efforts and support for the success of the Algerian space program. 

Previously, the Algerian satellite Alcom Sat 1 was launched on December, 10 from China.
