Presidency: “Bouteflika Did Not Meet With Farouk Ksantini”

Presidency of the Republic refuted the meeting of the President, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, with the lawyer Farouk Ksentini, as the latter told the media.

In a statement that was broadcast on official Algerian television, the presidency denied any meeting between President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and the former chair of the National Consultative Commission for Human Rights, the lawyer Farouk Ksantini, and considered his statements and content of the meeting mere fabrications.

The statement said that “some means of electronic media and the daily press quoted Farouk Ksentini as saying that the President of the Republic received him and addressed issues related to the current situation and future prospects”.

Previously, the former chairman of the Advisory Committee on Human Rights, Farouk Ksantini, revealed on Saturday that the President of the Republic has a desire to run for the fifth term in 2019.

Ksentini told TSA that he noticed, during his meeting, last week, with the President Bouteflika his interest in running for a fifth term in 2019.

“On the basis of personal relations with President, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, whom I have known for more than 30 years, I met him,  and I spoke with him in lengthy, and it was a week from now, and I see that his health condition is good and analyzed by the political situation is very sensitive, and the only thing that disables him is that his voice has fallen back, and he is moving with difficulty, especially his legs, and uses a wheelchair to move”.

“President Bouteflika knows him well and wants to stay in the service of his country until he is saved by the Almighty, this is his service, and he remains at the disposal of his homeland”.
