President Bouteflika Awarded ALECSO Shield

The “ALECSO Shield” was awarded to President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who is the first Arab president to receive the shield, in recognition of his efforts to establish a culture of dialogue and reconciliation, Chairman of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) said on Wednesday.

ALECSO Shield was received by the Prime Minister, Ahmed Ouyahia, from the Director General of ALECSO, Saud Hilal Al-Harbi, who arrived Tuesday in Algeria for a three-day official visit.

ALECSO Director General added that President Bouteflika was awarded the organization’s shield in recognition of being “one of the Arab rulers of the modern era who led and continues to lead the Arab nation”, praising “the progress and development that Algeria has witnessed under his leadership”.

“Algeria is a great country that led many Arab countries at all levels. The history of the Algerian revolution is currently being studied in many Arab countries”, he asserted.

He also praised the Algerian experience in the field of culture and education, and its experience in combating the phenomenon of terrorism which enabled him to “overcome the crisis thanks to the wisdom of President Bouteflika and the positive interaction of the Algerian people”. 

“Many Arab countries benefit from the Algerian experience in counter terrorism. What distinguishes the Algerian experience in the fight against terrorism is that it does not only dealt with the legal and punitive aspects, but also directed towards awareness and attention to the social and cultural dimension of drying up its sources”.

He praised the policy of national reconciliation that was initiated by President Bouteflika; saying “Thanks to his grace Algerians live in peace and harmony”.
