The RCD party (Rally for Culture and Democracy) launched on Monday, April 6th, a call on “citizens” to join the commemoration marches coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the Berber Spring events that it intends to organize on the 20th of April in the Kabylie region in eastern Algeria.

“The action is meant, according to the RCD Party, to express the participants’ joint determination to foster a peaceful and democratic alternative which would rehabilitate the Algerian  people in their  legitimate ambition to live their destiny within a climate of justice, universality and progress”.

The RCD party also pointed to what it called the “negative balance-sheet” of the government and evoked a protracted “power vacuum” at the helm of the state.

The RCD further reaffirmed the need to shift towards a democratic transition. A transition that will ensure “equality of all the people in rights and duties without any discrimination of gender or language”, and with Tamazight and Arabic being our two official languages” in addition to the advent of an “alternation in power”.
