Rex Tillerson's Gift To Ali Haddad
U.S State Secretary, Rex Tilerson, gave a copy of the Peace and Friendship Treaty that was signed between Algeria and the United States in 1795, to the Algerian Businessman, Ali Haddad, Forum of Heads of Institutions said on Sunday.
The Forum’s statement added: “The meeting between the two men was held on the sidelines of the Ministerial Summit on Trade, Security and Governance in Africa, that was held in Washington”.
According to the same source; “US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, gave the Chairman of the Forum of Heads of Institutions, Mr. Ali Haddad, a copy of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship that was concluded between the two countries on September 5, 1795”, and published a copy of it in its Facebook page.
“He explained to Mr. Ali Haddad, that he wanted through this symbolic gift, to recall the depth of the history of relationships between Algeria and the United States of America, which is dated on the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America, confirming his country’s readiness to develop these relationships, and in turn Mr. Ali Haddad, asserted that Algeria was the first country to recognize the independence of the United States of America”.
