Two more deaths due to seasonal influenza (H1N1) were recorded, according to the Director of Prevention at the level of the Ministry of Health, Djamel Fourar.

The seasonal flu has, thus, caused the death of 23 people so far. The assessment tally was provided by Mr. Hazbellaoui’s director of prevention in the health ministerial department.

The latest victims are aged between 4 and 65 years old, according to the same source. Great caution is thus required in this period of extreme cold.

The same official added that 57 other people with “severe complications” stemming from the seasonal flu had to be hospitalized, saying that the last case was recorded Thursday in the province of Bordj Bou Arreridj (eastern Algeria).

The latter is a diabetic forty-year-old who was admitted to the Medjana public hospital (Bordj Bou Arreridj) before being transferred to the intensive care unit of the Sétif hospital.

The Ministry of Health has also reaffirmed by the same token that “no cases of swine flu have been recorded in Algeria”.
