Security services arrest Customs' agents, including officers working for trafficking cells
Algiers security services arrested 30 people, of whom 16 customs Agents of various ranks including officers, on charges of smuggling and forgery of official documents for authorization to enter 11 containers that were packed with different kinds of cigarettes as contraband and toxins.
This case, as judicial sources told Echorouk, back to accurate information that were received by Algiers security services about a smuggling cell’s activity, trying to enter a 40-foot containers that were filled with various brands of cigarettes, contraband and toxins, which sources think they are hallucinating drugs.
Security services prepared a plan, having been notified the Government Procurator of the Court of jurisdiction, and during the search of the containers they found 11 containers of 40 feet packed with various kinds of cigarette brands, contraband and toxins.
Arrested complied before the Government Procurator at the Court of jurisdiction in Algeria’s, as he referred them to the investigating judge, who listened and investigated with the suspects until late hours on last Thursday and Friday, before issuing the decision of provisional release pending completion of the investigation into the case and disclosing its details.
According to information in the possession of Echorouk, the number of those involved in this case are suspected of being involved in the fire of goods’ depot that was seized by Customs at Algiers port near the passengers’ terminal, last summer, leaving considerable losses of goods, especially as the fire came on an area of 900 square meters of the 4,500 square meters of the warehouse that contains products which cost billions, in addition to the destruction of documents and papers that are described as important.
