Trade Ministry Announces The List Of Banned Imports

Trade Ministry officially announced, on Monday, the list of products that are prohibited from import in 2018, which includes 45 families of products, while it confirms that the ban is temporary, and the list will be subject to periodic reform.

According to a statement that was issued by the Trade Ministry on Tuesday, that is related to the mechanisms of framing the import of goods, and measures that are taken to import some goods, these are the procedures with the nature of the customs tariff that are stipulated in the provisions of the Finance Law 2018, by expanding the list of goods that are subject to internal tax for consumption by 30% on 10 families of the final products, and it comes to salmon, dried fruits without crusts and other dried fruits, spices, sugars, pancakes, materials based on extracts and benzene, for liquids and others, digital devices and decoders, hardware stimulant of fire, electric alarm devices, small computer machines and it identifies the name of the products and tariffs in Article 32 of the 2018 Finance Act.

According to the same statement, the customs’ rights are lifted to 32 families of finished products, including sunflower seeds, plastic equipment, cooking ovens, water purifiers, beverage purifiers, mineral oil purifiers, parts of the air filter, lifting devices, mobile bridges, mobile-pole bridges, automated media, mobile computers and terminals, central processing units and computer servers, memory modules, memory card reader, pipe materials, modems and mobile devices etc., decoder cards, connector cards, containers for rubbish, tractor and truck chassis, coolers, peanut preparations, jams, faucets, electrical switchboards, food additives and soda water.

The remaining 45% of the finished products are: final cheese, yoghurt and milk products, dry fruits, fresh fruits except with bananas, fresh vegetables except for garlic, meat except for some kinds, corn derivatives, meat preparations, fish preparations, glucose syrup confectionery, confectionery, food processors, cereal derivatives, canned vegetables, dextrin and other semi-finished materials, finished and semi-finished plastic materials, small bags and bags of firewood, toilet paper, agricultural equipment, marble and granite finishing, final ceramics, crystal glass chandeliers, materials for cleaning, cement, electronic materials, mobile phones.

The suspension of importation of the goods that are mentioned above shall be temporary and shall be reviewed progressively without prejudice to other taxes and duties that are applicable to the importation or marketing of such products, as such taxes may be maintained or increased.
