Trade Ministry to take deterrent measures against unhealthy products' companies

Trade Ministry has taken deterrent measures against companies that are involved in providing “wrong” information about the characteristics of their products, reaching up to the procedure of permanently withdrawing them from the market because they threat consumers’ health and life.
Services of surveillance and repression of fraud developed strict measures that are expected to enter into force in the next few days, after the publication of the executive decree in the Official Gazette, that is included within the framework of consumers’ protection from all attempts to poison them with unknown or fake goods by producers.
This decree included the need to include all the features and materials of the product by the producers and the problem with the alignment should be announced by the producing company, and if it is breaching the standards in force, penalties would reach up to final withdrawal of the product from the market and prevent its manufacturing.
On the subject, head of Consumers’ Protection Association in Algiers said, in a statement to Echorouk, that this decree will protect consumers from all sorts of fallacies that traders intentionally adopt through the promotion of characteristics that do not match with the standards in their goods. As this will contribute to put an end to counterfeited products that threaten the lives of Algerians.
