Transport: Cars, buses will be provided with 3G GPS system to reduce traffic accidents

A new proposal will be discussed and enriched at the level of the National People’s Council soon, about the exploitation of the third-generation technologies to reduce traffic accidents and technical surveillance along the national road, MP Djaadi Menaouar, Chairman of the Transport and Telecommunications Committee , at the level of parliament told Echorouk.
“Transportation Committee will prepare a complete file on the matter, pending the conclusion of an agreement between the general manager of the mobile phone trader “Mobilis” and Transport Minister, Amar Ghoul”.
“Transport Minister’s statement of last Thursday in the National Assembly about adopting the black box in trucks and buses, in the next few days, is a good step that would reduce traffic accidents by 70%.
For his part, Younes Guerrar, an expert in the field of information and communication technologies, said the Transport Ministry should adopt the 3G GPS, for the programming of traffic accidents through “Facebook”, and complemente it with a mobile phone program, This system may be specified in advance to the specificity of roads and dangerous places, and it includes a list of subscribers and their functions.
“Programming the new technologies by 3G “GPS” and mobile phone facilitates the task of transporting vehicles, and warns the drivers and give them the information with video about dangerous deviations, or impassable roads or dangerous locations, and are pre-programmed, but in case of emergency the Ministry of Transport will receive, through the technical program which is developed with information about the drivers who are concerned with the road where the accident occurred”.
“The ministry employs doctors and mechanics, and other specialists who can be helped in emergency cases, at the level of the roads especially highways, and they are registered in the Ministry’s website and will be directed according to the region where they are present.”
“First step that will be taken by the Transport Ministry, is the Facebook page where the most heinous crimes of road terrorism will be exposed, and warning of things that are associated with increasing traffic accidents.”
