Two Algerian elements of self-defense personnel face French Criminal Court

Two elements of Algerian self-defense personnel or what is known as ‘Patriots’ were brought before the Criminal Court of Nime, southern France, on charges of torture and committing violent acts during the black decade on Algerian soil.
French media quoted associations that attend the trial as a civil party as saying that the suspects are two brothers, Houcine and Abdelkader and Mohammed, who were subject to investigation since 2004, and are living in France illegally, as the magistrate recently decided to transfer them to the criminal court on charges of committing acts of torture, during the black decimal in Algeria, in Ghilizane (western Algeria).
Same sources added that the judicial inquiry was opened in 2003, after a complaint by the International Federation of Associations of Human Rights Associations, as the President of the International Federation of Associations of the Human Rights, Patrick Baudouin, expressed happiness, because for the first time, Algerians will be trialed in France, for acts that are committed on the Algerian territories.
According to these associations, which was founded as a civil party, the two brothers from Relizane, and live in Nimes since 1998, and were at the top of self-defense teams in the city.
According to the victims’ testimonies, survivors and relatives of the victims, the two man were openly implicated in violence which allowed the victims’ relatives to identify them easily.
