Algerians from Bechar province (southern Algeria) were released a week ago by the Moroccan border guards, after they have been arrested in less than two days, while they were searching for “truffles mushrooms” in the area of Hamakir, which is located on Algeria-Morocco border, in Abadla District – 88 km from Bechar.

Echorouk sources confirmed that the families of the two youth, 30 and 33, had reported their disappearance after they came out to reap “truffles”, and found them only after their release.
It is not the first time, according to local sources, in which Algerian nationals are subjected to arrests by the Border Patrol or the Moroccan Royal Gendarmerie, which, according to sources familiar with the torture of detainees, they were referred to the Moroccan justice, which ordered their detention, and Moroccan border guards searched the Algerians, and looted their money, and often subjected them to severe beatings on the legs.
Algerian borderline noticed a large movement of nomads who are coming from different areas like Djelfa, Msila, Laghouat and others, in addition to livestock care, they took advantage of their presence in “Bechar, Hamadat” to reap “mushrooms truffles” and sell them at high prices, but this activity becomes risky, because the search for this kind of expensive mushrooms leads them to entering the Moroccan border without feeling it, due to the vastness of the southern border area with Morocco.
