The anti-terrorist operation conducted by ANP troops who succeeded in eliminating earlier this week “Jund Al Khilafa” terrorist group leader Abdelmalek Gouri has dealt a lethal blow to this new terrorist network which has sworn allegiance to the “ISIL” terrorist movement after splitting from the “AQIM” terrorist organization.

This demise in Algeria of the so-called “Jund Al Khilafa” terror group especially with the killing by the Algerian Army of several of its members with on focus its chieftain “Abdelmalek Gouri” alias “Khaled Abou Slimane” has allowed the eastern province of Boumerdès to breathe a new fresh air again because of this group’s nefarious activities in the entire region.

This ISIL-linked terrorist group has always been trying to recruit youngsters hailing from this eastern region but to no avail because of the Algerian youth’s wisdom and sense of patriotism and their staunch opposition to the scourge of terrorism.

Eye- witnesses who were present during the operation told Echorouk that the vehicle carrying the three terrorists including “Abdelmalek Gouri” was ambushed late at night on the provincial road n°68 near the town of Isser by ANP troops.

The shoot – out which ensued for just a few minutes had allowed the ANP soldiers to shoot dead the terrorist ringleader Gouri and his two henchmen on board the ambushed vehicle.

Echorouk has also learnt from a security source that this anti-terrorist operation started three months ago and covered large swathes of territory in the eastern Kabylia region with the noose being tightened of late around the localities of Isser and Si Mustapha, the native town of Gouri who was born on December 15th 1977.

After being a school – drop – out, and doing some menial jobs, Gouri joined at the age of 18, the terrorist groups in 1995.

After a short detention in 1999 at the El Harrach prison in Algiers, he was later released and didn’t repent and joined again the terrorist groups in the year 2000  in the mountains together with some of his close relatives.

He later split from the “AQIM” terrorist group and swore allegiance to the so-called “Islamic state” terrorist group (ISIL) based in Syria and Iraq after the heinous assassination by his group of Frenchman Hervé Gourdel last September.
