A woman died on Sunday in Bord Bou Arreridj hospital following a complicated flu. According to some information, the lady was infected with the H1N1 virus (swine flu).

This is the 2nd flu-related death recorded in Algeria this week.

A first patient who contracted the H1N1 virus died more than a week ago. The 45-year-old patient, hospitalized for the first time at the Médjana hospital (Bordj Bou-Arréridj), died at Sétif hospital.

A second case of contamination of the virus has just been announced by the health services of the province of Bordj Bou-Arréridj (eastern Algeria). This concerns a 30-year-old married woman.

According to the same sources, the results of the Pasteur Institute analyses confirmed that the patient was suffering from the H1N1 virus.

It seems that this woman is from the same family of the man who died last week.

Hospitalized and isolated at the Bouzidi hospital in Bordj Bou-Arréridj, the patient is in a steady state, according to a medial source.

As a consequence, the citizens’ anxiety is growing by leaps and bounds in Bordj Bou-Arréridj, in as much as in 2008, five people died of seasonal influenza.

The five victims hailed from Bordj Bou-Arreridj itself as well as from Bordj-Ghedir, Ouled Dahman, Bordj-Zemourah and Mansourah municipalities.
