World Health bodies warn against lethal effect of “Motilium” pharmaceutical product
The Health Ministry and the pharmaceutical laboratories in Algeria, have so far ignored the global health warnings against the dangers posed by the medicine called “Motilium” for the treatment of nausea and vomiting, and other brand names like “Domberdon” used for the treatment of disorders of the stomach. However, recent medical research has ascertained that the latter can cause sudden death by having a nefarious impact on the patient’s heart.
Some world pharmaceutical laboratories have warned in the instruction sheet inside the Pack of medicine against the adverse effect of this drug on people’s hearts, and demanded an alteration of the doses of the pills taken, but the Algerian pharmaceutical laboratories have so far not taken into account this paramount injunction.
In a swift reaction, the French scientific Journal said in an investigative report published recently that between 25 to 123 people suddenly passed away in several countries due to the intake of “Motilium” and called on the relevant authorities to enforce urgent measures for the complete withdrawal of this deleterious medical product from the world market permanently.
For his part, the head of the National Commission for Health Promotion, Professor Mustapha Khiati, told “Echorouk” that the warnings issued against this drug “Motilium” should be taken seriously by the country’s health officials, even though Algeria has not registered any deaths or any abnormal symptoms as a result of taking this medication, stressing however that “prevention is better than a cure”, as he put it.
