New Year's celebrations to postpone the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) "birthday's" Umrah
New Year's celebrations threaten of depriving dozens of pilgrims from performing Umrah of the Prophet's (Muhammad PBUH) holy birthday, because Air Algérie flights will delay the program of the preparation, although the booking was launched at the level of travel agencies, as well as the stalling of the Office of Haj and Umrah in ending the book of conditions.
Travel agencies started a few days ago the reception of citizens' files, who wish to perform the Umrah, to coincide with the celebration of the Prophet Mohammad's birth, which will coincide with the next January 25, at a time Air Algérie did not announce the flights' program for pilgrims, because it coincides with with the New Year's celebrations, an event that attracts the attention of many Algerians, who prefer travelling to one of the European countries including France, while many expatriates, including Europeans for the year-end holidays in the desert to enjoy the beauty of nature.
Agents who are involved in organizing this season, failure to meet all the requests, as a source from the agency says that the early commencement of receiving applications to perform Umrah during the
prophet's birthday is a kind of gambling, due to the delay of Air Algérie in the preparation of flights' program, which may not commensurate with the number of seekers to perform Umrah, which could
force the agencies to buy tickets on the black market through intermediaries, which will affect the total cost of the Umrah, currently estimated at about 18 million centimes, noting that the new
law required agencies to deal with each other under a documented contract, thus canceling the work of bilateral agreements.
Spokesman for the National Union of Travel Agencies of the eastern regions, Charif Menasra asserted that agents began to receive requests for Umrah, while they are waiting for Air Algérie flights' program, as well as the book of conditions, although the Saudi authorities announced the opening of the Umrah season since almost a week, and is seeking at the same time not to make the prophet's birthday's Umrah like Ramadan's Umrah, as set forth in the Sharia and Sunna law, due to the overwhelming response to the Algerians on it annually, which is constantly growing, as the number of Algerian pilgrims who traveled to the holy sites during the holy Prophet's birthday (Mawlid) reaches about 40.000 pilgrims annually.
