Algeria’s football squad captain Yazid Mansouri is very optimistic over the qualifying match against Zambia while the players are in training in Pretoria ahead of the match.

  •
  • How did the first training séance start?
  •
  • It is just a séance for recovery. It is cool here and its helps to work. You know the first séance is to make muscles relaxing and to start serious preparations.
  •
  • Does it mean that serious plans have not started yet?
  •
  • No. I mean we have plenty of time to start tactical exercises ahead of the match. It is an opportunity for us to psychologically feel free before the match against Zambia.
  •
  •
  • You feel big pressure after beating Egypt?
  •
  • The victory over Egypt may have a negative impact. That’s why, we avoid stepping back and we are thinking of the future. Zambia has a strong squad. The match is difficult and our desire to come back home with a positive result makes more pressure on us.
  •
  • Have you fears of arrogance after your great victory over Egypt?
  •
  • I do not expect that because there is a unified desire to continue working with positivism.

“No superiority among Algeria football squad,” Well said Yazid Mansouri, you are really Wiseman and thank you for your excellent answers especially the one of the question Number 3 about the pressure after beating Egypt. If really the players and staff believe or think that the victory over Egypt had a negative effect (I mean they have to think it’s a defeat not a victory or at least forget it) and that Zambia is a very strong giant team that they are going to face with great difficulty on June 20th, I am sure that the Algerian team will make amazing performance against Zambia thousand times better than they made against Egypt.
This kind of thinking makes me feel happy and confident because it pushes and encourages the team to keep working very hard and make an extra effort. According to my knowledge, it’s this style of thinking, philosophy or strategy that brought the victory over Germany in 1982 and why not this time (2010). Who can know?
