National Team Coach Saâdane: "We should not underestimate Rwanda"
National team coach Rabah Saâdane
National team Coach Rabah Saâdane has said that the upcoming Algeria-Rwanda World cup qualifier, slated for October 11th in Blida stadium at 19h 15mn local time, will certainly be most grueling and tiring for the Algeria football line-up owing to the high stakes in this major football competition .
- Saâdane told a press conference on Tuesday in Algiers that the national Rwandan squad, who still hanker after a qualification for the next Africa cup of nations' contest, would pull out all the stops next Sunday versus Algeria in the hope of snatching the maximum points in expectation of their last home qualifier next November versus Zambia.
- He also indicated that he would meet tomorrow with all the players of the national squad with the aim of sensitizing them to the crucial importance of securing a clear victory over Rwanda so as to seal Algeria's qualification for the 2010 World cup in South Africa.
- "We will concentrate exclusively on the match against Rwanda and not on the Zambia-Egypt qualifier to be played a day earlier in Chilolombwe", Saâdane asserted.
- He further pointed out that even if the Egyptians faltered on October 10th versus Zambia, a win over Rwanda remained imperative on all accounts as a draw, for instance, would be counter-productive for the Fennecs' qualification ambitions.
- He added that the number of goals to be scored against Rwanda was, for him, of little importance stressing that the main objective was to clinch the 3 points of victory next Sunday in Blida.
- "The presence within the Algeria line-up of the 2 new Europe-based professional players, namely Abdoune and Yebda respectively from FC Nantes and Portsmouth, will undoubtedly boost the team's reliability and winning spirit", Saâdane explained.
- He said that these 2 talented players had smoothly integrated the Greens' environment during the current training camp in Algiers.
- Finally, the national team coach emphasized that he had no "disagreement" at all with the chairman of the Algerian football federation (FAF), Mohamed Raouraoua, notably on the choice of those Algerian players playing abroad, stressing that his relationship with Raouraoua was good and fruitful.
