According to a new poll conducted by Libyan sports weekly Al Hadef, Algeria is the best African team of 2009, APS reported on Sunday (October 18th).

  •  The results are based on the Greens' performance in the African/World Cup qualifiers, including a draw and four victories. Egypt, Algeria's rivals in the last qualifier, placed second. Egypt's Hassan Shahata was named best coach, followed by Algeria's Rabah Saadane.
  • In related news, Algerian Football Federation chief Mohamed Raouraoua on Saturday (October 17th) called on Egyptian and Algerian media outlets to show good sportsmanship in covering the upcoming African/World Cup qualifier, APS reported. Raouraoua was speaking from Cairo, where he was met with Egyptian officials to discuss the match.
