Algeria summoned Egypt’s ambassador Friday to transmit its concerns about escalating media campaign following Wednesday’s World Cup play-off in Sudan.

  • “Foreign ministry summoned Egypt’s ambassador to Algeria on November 20th, 2009,” the ministry said in a statement.
  • “Foreign minister Mourad Medelci gave the ambassador the responsibility of transmitting Algeria’s concerns about the escalating media campaign to his country.”
  • “Medecli expressed his hope this campaign ends. Algeria took all the measures to restore calm before, during and after Saturday and Wednesday’s matches. It set up a reinforced security system to ensure the safety of Egyptian nationals and their belongings in Algeria,” said the statement.
  • Egyptian TV satellite channels’ fierce campaign against Algeria’s people escalated after Egypt’s defeat in Wednesday’s World Cup play-off in Sudan.
  • Hundreds of Egyptian angry fans have demonstrated next to the Algerian embassy since Thursday. They burnt Algeria’s national flag, chanted anti-Algerian slogans, broke cars and shop windows.

I'm really desappointed for all what's happening here in Egypt especially the way their media are attacking algerian people. It is an egyptian tragedy played beautifully by their goverment and their actors. Now they really deserve an International Oscar for this play. shame on you brother Egyptians !
From an Algerian living in Egypt and who knows Egyptians very well !

i would like to advice the egiptian authorities to stop their outrageous attacks on algerain people and to accept the fact that they are not superior than the others . algerians respect all the arabs and muslims all over the world and amongst them the egyptian brothers

Hi guys how are you
Al what i can say to this gentleman is that you should go and tell this to the israel who is runing you so called country, you do not have the right nor knowledge about history, what i think is that you've reading too much israeli books, because i can see where you are pointing at, ALGERIA is bigger than you or who ever has this grudge and maybe some days when you become mature enough send me an email and maybe i said maybe i'll book you in for some free history lessons, as you not a single idea about that, and for your informations, i know egyptians very well, they master lies and comedy, and they are full of shit unfortunatly with excetion of some scholar, but the rest are good for recycling. Mr ahmed, stick with your comedy and comedians and let the grown up live, and ALGERIANS dont hate you by the way, but they feel sorry for you, because you are some arrogant ,greedy,....pieces of crap and hope that some day and when we see the israeli flag out of egypt, than we can talk, so remember that ALGERIANS are far far far to be judged by a stupid country like yours, and sorry i have giving you enough time , i have to go and if you feel that you need counceling, please and please email me. I am noticing there is a major conflict in oppinions in regards to both sides. This issue has not only escallated into political/diplomatic trajedy, which is very rare for a stupid football game to be the culprit. But mark my words, if both sides keep on blabbing the same nonesence like so, intentionally cut media transmition from both sides, this will all seriously blow up in both our faces.
It will be then when the world will truly see how the desert arabs go about with their lives when left alone.
As a person currently living in Egypt, they basically claim that the Algerian gov sent militia troops with knifes and warrior meals to the Sudanese match through military planes.
Whereas the other sides claims, well you know..
It's obvious how a football match mixed in with a couple of bored propaganda charged politicians can do to a who people.

Putting aside the rude comments, which in return, I appreciate every word. I am noticing there is a major conflict in oppinions in regards to both sides. As a person currently living in Egypt, let me tell you that Egyptians love everyone, including Algeria, unfortunately most Egyptians also love the media..
So media basically claim that the Algerian gov sent militia troops with knifes and warrior meals to the Sudanese match through military planes.
Whereas the other sides claims, well you know.. barbarians.

Salam. What a shame, just a game turned into a harassment. I think by now the algerian authorities have to intervene for a restraining order to protect our citizens residing in egypt. I understood the algerian government didnt want to play the same game and put themselves to the lowest level as the egyptians, but i think now our authorities have and must condemn this irresponsible behavior, burning our flag twice and attack our students is very serious and needs action
Mohamed : Algeria
I am algerian and was extremely happy with our national team clear victory. I am just following the events and wondering where it will end up. Everything will be calm in few months. Let's not forget that we are muslim brothers, and that is what counts at the end regardless of our color, origin or country. God is watching and we will be judged if not stopping any Fitna between muslim brothers. It is not important to know who is wrong and who is right.
